THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Secondary Schools’ Track and Field Association (TTSST - FA) commences its Athletic Festival 2015-2016 on Sunday with its annual Cross Country at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, from 2 pm.

Donicia Antoine and Ottis Barker of Toco Secondary are expected to continue to dominate this event but will face the likes of keen contenders Silini Acosta (Bishops High) Tobago and other promising distant runners. Competition for the cross country event will be based on the following age groupings — Under-14 (four kilometres), Under-16 (4k) and Under-18 (6k).

Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the school with the most finishers, as well as the individual winners, overall individual winners (boys and girls) and age group.

Additionally, TTSST FA will also stage the Secondary Schools 5k race, on November 15, which runs off from the Sangre Grande Secondary School. This event is also open to the public for the very first time and a very competitive event is expected.

TTSST FA has formulated a relationship with the National Lotteries Board and their intention is to help hone and showcase the athletics talents of secondary schools students to sporting educational institutions and athletics coaches both locally and internationally.

A Health Fair is also included in this event with fun aerobics, health checks, and free nutritional food samples from companies and non governmental organisations such as Blue Waters, AMCO, Bermudez, Herbal Life, The Institute of Health and Fitness and Lions.

Schedule of Events (2015- 2016) — October 18 - Cross Country Run and Health Fair (Queen’s Park Savannah) November 15 - 5k Classic (Sangre Grande Secondary) February 16 - Relay Festival (Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima) April 13-14 - National Track and Field Championships (Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo).
