Cain advances to women’s 200m final

Nyoshia Cain qualified for the final of the women’s 200m T44 after finishing fourth in her qualifying heat on the second day of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships, in Doha, Qatar, yesterday.

Cain advanced to today’s final as one of two fastest losers with a time of 28.46 seconds. She finished behind Netherlands pair of Marlow van Rhijn who won the heat in 26.66, and Fleur Jong who was second in 27.53. Italy’s Giuseppina Versace finished third in 28.31. The other qualifier from the heat was USA’s April Holmes who clocked 28.85.

On Thursday, Cain will do battle in the women’s 100m T44 heats. And one day later, Akeem Stewart, who won bronze in the men’s discus on Thursday, will be back in action in the men’s javelin throw F44 event.
