Chief Justice, President’s wife for Marathon

Trinidad Express :: 14.01.2016

Trinidad and Tobago's Chief Justice Ivor Archie is expected to lend support to the #10Golds24 campaign when he and his family participate in the Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon to raise awareness for the initiative.

This bid is a project of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC).

The Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, and the initiative seeks to raise awareness and funds for the #10Golds24 Athlete Welfare and Preparation Fund, which was created in 2015 to support the country's athletes. The fund is expected to provide health and financial support for Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth athletes.

And President Anthony Carmona's wife, Reema, will lead a six-member relay team representing President's House in the Marathon that starts at St Mary's junction in Freeport and concludes at the Queen's Park Savannah, opposite White Hall.

Chief Justice Archie is a long-standing advocate of health and wellness, with particular emphasis on youth development and sport as a way of engaging young people positively and encouraging them to lead productive crime-free lives. He pledged his support and that of his family in December 2015 at the TTOC's Youth Award Ceremony. Members of the Judiciary's fitness team, Xtreme Justice, will also join the Chief Justice.

The event consists of two races: an International 5K which takes place on Saturday and the International Marathon on Sunday.
