Ahye, Lalonde lead the world

Trinidad and Tobago track stars Michelle-Lee Ahye and Lalonde Gordon lead the world for the 2015/2016 indoor season.

Ahye opened her campaign in style, capturing the women’s sprint double at the Reveille Invitational in Texas, USA, on December 12, last year. The 23-year-old athlete topped the 60 metres dash in a world-leading 7.14 seconds, and won the 200m in another world-leading time—an indoor best 23.19.

More than a month later, Ahye is still at the top of the global indoor women’s 60m and 200m lists. In fact, the Carenage sprinter now has the two fastest times in the shorter sprint, thanks to last Friday’s 7.17 seconds winning run in the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational final, in Texas. Ahye had earlier clocked 7.26 to lead all qualifiers into the championship race.
