Michelle-Lee Ahye was just short of gold in the women's 200 metres, at the Globen Galan IAAF World Indoor Tour meet, in Stockholm, Sweden, on Wednesday.

The Trinidad and Tobago track star got to the line in 23.39 seconds to claim silver, just behind American Jeneba Tarmoh, the winner in 23.38.

Ahye is joint-ninth on the 2016 world indoor 200m performance list, with American Ashley Spencer, at 23.19 seconds. And on the 60m list, Ahye is sixth with a 7.12 clocking.

At the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, in Alabama, USA, on Tuesday, T&T's Jessica James bagged bronze in the women's 400m event. The Abilene Christian University student clocked 55.24 seconds.

In the preliminary round, James won heat four in 55.50 to lead all qualifiers into the final.

James also faced the starter in the 800m. She returned a time of two minutes, 23.11 seconds to finish seventh in heat two and 15th overall. The top eight progressed to the championship race.
