Warren powers to 'Puma' gold

US wins too for Walters, Alexander, James, Davis

Trinidad and Tobago's Portious Warren was at her powerful best at the Puma Indoor Classic in Arizona, USA, on Saturday. The Central Arizona College freshwoman threw a personal best 16.36 metres to strike gold in the women's shot put. The big effort also improved on her National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) indoor record, as well as the school record.

There was a podium finish too for Warren in the weight throw, the 19-year-old field athlete finishing second with a 15.36m throw. Ruebin Walters was also in winners' row on Saturday, the Central Arizona sophomore topping the men's 60m hurdles field in 8.03 seconds. A third T&T/Central Arizona athlete, Hezekiel Romeo finished second in the men's shot put with a 17.67m throw and sixth in the weight throw (14.35m).
