Ahye equals national record

Michelle-Lee Ahye equalled her own national record at the Jablonec Indoor Gala, in the Czech Republic, yesterday. The Trinidad and Tobago track star stopped the clock at 7.10 seconds to grab women's 60 metres gold, matching the time she had produced in the semifinal round at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland, two years ago.

Though unchallenged in yesterday's dash, Ahye was able to produce her best. Her closest challenger in the championship race was Maja Mihalinec, the Slovenian snatching silver in 7.24 seconds. Germany's Lisa Mayer bagged bronze in 7.35.

Ahye signalled a warning in the qualifying round, winning heat one in a fast 7.11 seconds. She followed up with an even faster run in the final.
