Solomon tops UTEP 400

Jarrin Solomon produced a dominant run at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Invitational, in the United States, on Saturday. Solomon stopped the clock at 45.84 seconds to run away with the title, forcing his Trinidad and Tobago teammate Ade Alleyne-Forte to settle for silver in 46.69.

Asa Guevara picked up men's 100m bronze, the UTEP student getting to the line in a wind-assisted 10.42 seconds. New Mexico Junior College sprinter Kayelle Clarke was seventh fastest in the women's 200m in 24.31.

At the Texas State Bobcat Classic, Deborah John clocked a personal best 13.12 seconds to claim silver in the women's 100m hurdles. Carlyle Roudette earned silver in the men's 400m in 46.59. Southwestern Christian College's Jamoul Pierre was sixth overall in 47.30. And Roudette was sixth fastest in the 200m in 20.91.

At the Spring Invite, in Florida, Emmanuel Callender clocked 10.44 seconds to secure third spot in the men's 100m "B" final. Callender won his qualifying heat in a windy 10.29. Another T&T sprinter, Keston Bledman was third in another heat in 10.28, but opted out of the "B" final. Bledman's time was the second fastest legal 100m clocking by a T&T athlete this season. Only Rondel Sorrillo, winner of the Virginia Challenge century in 10.23 two weekends ago, has gone faster.

Alena Brooks got home in 54.28 seconds to finish first in her section and fifth overall in the Spring Invite women's 400m. Callender finished sixth in the men's 200m "A" race in 21.02. And Semoy Hackett was sixth in the women's 100m "B" final in 11.43.

At the Memphis Tiger Invitational, in Tennessee, Peli Alzola was sixth overall in both the women's 100m and 200m events. The Western Kentucky University sprinter clocked 11.83 seconds in the 100 and a windy 24.22 in the longer sprint.

In California, Shawna Fermin clocked 54.95 seconds to finish third in section two and ninth overall in the adidas Steve Scott Invitational women's 400m event. Magnolia Howell was 12th fastest in 55.67. And Jamie Payne finished 16th overall in the men's 100m dash in 10.83.
