An Olympic Diary Walcott Reflects on Prefontaine Woes

Trinidad Express :: 01.06.2016

Keshorn Walcott got his first taste of competition this season at last weekend's Prefontaine Classic IAAF Diamond League meet, in Oregon, USA. After fouling his first two attempts, the reigning Olympic men's javelin champion threw 74.99 metres to finish seventh. That performance mirrored his Prefontaine debut, two years ago, when he fouled twice before throwing 75.50m in round three for seventh spot.

A poor Prefontaine outing was not the only disappointment Walcott faced in recent weeks. All set to open his pre-Olympic campaign at home, the 23-year-old athlete was left high and dry when organisers of the inaugural T&T Grand Games called off the meet.
