Trinidad Express :: 08.06.2016

Champion Juvenile Club Cougars Track and Field overcame a spirited challenge from arch-rivals Memphis Pioneers to register their sixth consecutive victory at the NAAA (National Association of Athletics Administrations) Juvenile Championships which was held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium over the weekend.

The "Green Army" as they are fondly called marched to victory in the 2016 Championship by registering 412 points to Memphis 353 points. Cougars won 34 medals which included 13 gold medals, 11 silver and ten bronze medals. Memphis won 24 medals.

Cougars coach Kelvin Nancoo said: "This is what Trinidad and Tobago athletics needs to continue the upward curve. In three years time we will be a major force at the Carifta Games and looking beyond, we will be fighting Jamaica."

"Our athletes have worked superbly over the year and deserve every accolade which they received. We are the best by test and have proven it again and again. Cougars have strived and conquered, hats off to them."
