WALCOTT WARNING - Big Bislett throw for Olympic champ

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 09.06.2016

Keshorn Walcott issued an Olympic warning at the Bislett Games IAAF Diamond League meet in Oslo, Norway, yesterday, producing the third best throw of his career to secure bronze in a strong men's javelin field.

Trinidad and Tobago's reigning Olympic champion landed the spear 86.35 metres in the fourth and final round to finish third, behind Germans Thomas Rohler and Johannes Vetter. Rohler's winning effort, 89.30m was both a personal best and world-leading throw. And Vetter's 87.11m throw was a new personal best as well.

With his big 86.35m effort, Walcott jumped from 15th to fifth on the 2016 world performance list, behind Rohler (89.30m), Egypt's Ihab Abdelrahman (87.37m), Vetter (87.11m), and Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch (86.76m).
