Bledman, Baptiste begin title defences tonight

Trinidad and Tobago's best athletes will converge on the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, this weekend, for the NAAA NGC/Sagicor National Open Track and Field Championships. With Olympic selection on the line, spectators are in for an absolute treat.

The focus of attention this evening will be on opening round action in the 100 metres and 400m events. The 100m semis and finals will be contested tomorrow, while the 400m finals are scheduled for Sunday.

Reigning champion Keston Bledman and triple Olympic silver medallist Richard "Torpedo" Thompson are tipped to secure the two automatic Olympic picks up for grabs in the men's 100m dash. But in an event loaded with talent, there are no guarantees.
