Bledman, Thompson set for 100 showdown

Keston Bledman and Kelly-Ann Baptiste made comfortable progress in the 100 metres events, on day one of the NAAA NGC/Sagicor National Open Track and Field Championships, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, in Port of Spain, late yesterday.

Bledman opened the defence of his men's title with the easiest of victories, crossing the finish line in 10.73 seconds in the third of ten heats. But the fastest sprinter on the day was Richard "Torpedo" Thompson, the triple Olympic silver medallist topping heat 10 in 10.25.
