Lewis, Thompson confident ahead of Rio challenge

Sean Taylor :: Trinidad Express :: 27.06.2016

Gold was the word at the Atlantic-sponsored Sports Ambassador Farewell held at Jaffa in the Queen's Park Oval, yesterday, as both sailor Andrew Lewis and sprinter Richard Thompson were on hand in a short conference held, where the Rio-bound athletes were in confident mood leading into the Olympic Games.

"I don't think any athlete, or 99 per cent of athletes go into the Olympics just to compete," said Lewis. "They go there for a gold medal. They work four years at a time, eight years at a time, however many years at a time, to prepare for the Olympics. So if I know any athlete who would be going for anything other than gold, I would be surprised."
