Dr Hypolite joins ESPN Olympic panel

Olympic coach and sport medicine physician Dr Ian Hypolite has joined ESPN to provide studio analysis during the track and field events, as part of the network's presentation of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

He will work alongside ESPN's diverse on-air team of experts and Olympians that will lead the networks coverage including ESPN FC and ESPNcricinfo commentator Alexis Nunes and England Women's Cricket World Cup Champion Isa Guha, the official hosts of Rio 2016.

Former steeplechase British athlete Jo Ankier joins as onsite reporter with the commentary of Olympian medalist Grace Jackson; Dominican-American track and field athlete, Felix Sanchez; TV commentator and Olympic champion, Dwight Stones; former Olympian swimmer and medalist, Janelle Atkinson; ESPN's football expert and former footballer, Shaka Hislop; and renowned ESP N analyst, Bernardo Osuna.

Dr Hypolite brings vast Olympic experience to the network's coverage. He served the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTO C) as medical practitioner during the Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004 and was Head Coach to the country's successful London 2012 track and field team. He also served as the organisation's vice president from 2005 to 2013.

Personal coach to Jehue Gordon (World Champion 2013, World Junior Champion 2010 and 2012 Olympic finalist) and former coach to two-time Olympic medalist Emmanuel Callender, Dr Hypolite was named the North American, Central America and the Caribbean (NACAC) Coach of the Year in 2013. Additionally, he has served as Assistant Manager of Track and Field at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics and Chef de Mission at the 2006 CAC Games; the 2011 Pan American Games; and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Dr Hypolite graduated from St Mary's College and the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus) with a bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery and postgraduate degree in Psychiatry.

He also obtained an Executive Master's degree in Sport Organisations Management (MEMOS) and has served as the VP of the National Association of Athletic Administrations (NAAA) since 2001.

The network will present more than 200 hours of exclusive content of Rio 2016 including 12+hours of daily coverage, simulcast on ESPN Play, and daily highlights and extensive news and information on ESPNCaribbean.com

Coverage will also be available on cruise ships sailing in the Caribbean Sea.
