Ahye, Walcott set for Zurich Diamond League test tomorrow

TRINIDAD AND Tobago's 200-metre record holder Michelle- Lee Ahye will be back in action tomorrow in Zurich following her impressive performances at the Olympics Games in Brazil where she improved her national record and placed sixth in the final in Rio de Janeiro.

Trinidad and Tobago's Rio Olympics bronze medallist and national javelin record holder Keshorn Walcott, and German Rio Olympics gold medallist Thomas Rohler, are also listed to compete in the men's javelin event that has attracted former world champion Tero Pittamaki and Lausanne Diamond League winner Jakub Vadlejch who registered a personal and season best of 88.02 metres last Saturday.

Walcott recorded his season's best of 88.68m in Rio Olympics first round but managed 85.38 for the bronze medal effort while Rohler won the gold medal with 90.30 but has a season best of 91.28.

Last Saturday, Rohler's best effort was 84.16 for third while Walcott's best was 82.40 for fifth position.

Both will be attempting to turn the tables on Czech Republic's Vadlejch and regain some measure of respect for the specialty with their season's best.

The spotlight will be on the women's 200-metre showdown that brings together four of the fastest half-lap specialist in Jamaica's Rio Olympics gold medallist Elaine Thompson and her arch-rival and silver medallist Dafne Schippers, London Olympics gold medallist Allyson Felix and two-time Olympics gold medallist Veronica Campbell- Brown plus Ahye and Great Britain's new record holder Dina Asher-Smith.

Thompson, Schippers, Felix and Campbell-Brown have clocked lifetime best and are members of the exclusive "Sub- 22 Secs Club" while Ahye and Asher-Smith are getting closer to that magical figure with each new race.
