London 19th in Delaware 8K

Trinidad and Tobago's Mark London finished 19th in the men's eight-kilometre race at the Delaware State University (DSU) Farm Run Invite cross-country event, in the United States, last Saturday. The Coppin State University junior completed the course in 29 minutes, 49.8 seconds.

London's run helped Coppin State to fourth spot in the men's team event. University of Maryland-Eastern Shore emerged victorious, finishing ahead of Hampton, Delaware State and Coppin State.

On September 17, London was 27th in the men's 9.2-kilometre run at the Cappy Anderson Cross Country Invitational, in Maryland. The Tobago runner got home in 32:01.78. The Coppin State men finished fourth, behind Navy, Maryland-Eastern Shore and Mount St Mary's.

London enjoyed a 14th-place finish on September 10, in the Hornet Invitational 5K, in Delaware. He returned a time of 17:57.40 to help Coppin State to third spot in the men's team competition.

London had opened his 2016 cross country campaign on September 2, at the Towson Invitational, in Maryland. He finished fifth in the five-kilometre race in 18:32.3, averaging three minutes, 42.5 seconds per kilometre.

Three of the top five spots went to Coppin State runners. Ronaldo Ball was second in 16:37.2, finishing just behind Howard's Mohamed Bah, the winner in 16:37.1. Third spot, meanwhile, was secured by Michael James (16:47.1). Morgan State's Halim Joseph (17:18.3) was a distant fourth.
