EYES ON TOKYO

NATIONAL track and field athletes Khalifa St Fort and Akeem Stewart and cyclist Nicholas Paul are looking forward to continuing their progress during 2017, even as they also keep an eye on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

St Fort and Paul were named the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee Junior Sportswoman and Junior Sportsman of the Year on Thursday night at the TTOC's 19th Annual Awards Gala, held at the Hyatt Regency. Stewart was adjudged the TTOC's Personality of the Year.

It was St Fort's second successive lien on the TTOC Junior Sportswoman of the Year prize.

Speaking after her victory, the teenagers, who won a bronze in the Women's 100m dash at the IAAF Junior World Track and Field Championships in Poland, said: "I am looking forward to still going for my sub 11 as well as my sub 23, as well as training for IAAF World Championships in London 2017."
