Solomon bags bronze in Canada

Jarrin Solomon bagged men's 400 metres bronze at the Knights of Columbus Indoor Games in Saskatchewan, Canada, last Friday.

The 31-year-old Trinidad and Tobago quarter-miler got home in 48.24 seconds, trailing a pair of Americans to the line. Brycen Spratling secured gold in 47.15, with silver going to Dontavious Wright (47.51).

Solomon returned to the track on Saturday for the 300m event. He finished fourth, the 2012 Olympic 4x400m bronze medallist clocking 34.25 seconds. Spratling topped the field in 33.38 to complete an impressive double. The 24-year-old athlete led an American sweep of the podium positions, Wright (33.63) and Ricky Babineaux (34.06) finishing second and third, respectively.

At the Patriot Games, in Virginia, USA, Aaron Lewis earned bronze in the men's 60m hurdles. He clocked 8.32 seconds to finish second in section two and third overall in the finals. In the preliminary round, the T&T athlete topped heat two in a personal best 8.24 to advance as the fastest qualifier.

Lewis also competed in the 200m event. He got home in 23.14 seconds to finish third in section one and seventh overall.

In Kingston, Jamaica, Jonathan Farinha produced a 6.72 seconds run to finish fourth in section three in the Queens Grace Jackson Track Meet men's 60m dash. The T&T sprinter was sixth fastest overall. Gold was grabbed by Julian Forte, the Jamaican stopping the clock at an impressive 6.55 seconds.
