Warren strikes Aztec gold

Parris, Roberts also in winners' row

Portious Warren outclassed her rivals to claim gold in the women's shot put at the Aztec Track & Field Invitational indoor meet in Arizona, USA, on the weekend. The Central Arizona College sophomore threw the iron ball 16.18 metres. There was a podium finish too for Warren in the weight throw, the Trinidad and Tobago athlete earning silver with a 17.16m effort.

Jeminise Parris struck gold in the women's 60m hurdles in 8.79 seconds. And in the 200m event, the Central Arizona freshman was second in 24.89.

Khemani Roberts was golden at last Wednesday's Princeton Multi Event Meet, in New Jersey. The Coppin State University student earned 3,572 points to top the women's pentathlon. On Saturday, in Pennsylvania, Roberts finished fifth in the Frank Colden Invitational women's shot put event with an 11.78m throw.

At the Louisiana State University (LSU) Bayou Bengal meet, in Louisiana, University of Alabama's Ruebin Walters clocked 7.85 seconds to snap up silver in the men's 60m hurdles. LSU's Akanni Hislop finished 10th overall in the men's 60m dash in 6.98 seconds, while Shermund Allsop was 17th in 7.02.

In Colorado, Micah Ballantyne secured silver in the Grizzly-Buffalo Clash men's 60m final. The Adams State University junior got to the line in 6.78 seconds.

At the Lake Superior Challenge, in Minnesota, Bemidji State University's Jada Barker clocked 7.99 seconds to capture women's 60m silver.

In Texas, Carlyle Roudette finished second in the Charlie Thomas Invitational Olympic Development men's 400m in 48.06 seconds. South Plains College sophomore, Mauricia Prieto was 28th overall in the women's 200m in 24.95.

At the Mountain T's Invitational, in Arizona, Jamol James clocked 6.70 seconds for fourth spot in the men's 60m final. University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) student, Asa Guevara finished second in his section and sixth overall in the New Mexico Classic men's 200m in 21.43.

In North Carolina, St Augustine's University's Marissa Gale produced a 57.89 seconds run for seventh spot in the Camel City Invitational women's 400m. At the Jaguar Invitational, in Alabama, Elia Nero was ninth overall in the women's 400m. The Louisiana Tech University student got home in 57.81.

Kayelle Clarke was 14th fastest in the women's 200m at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, in Nebraska. The University of Kentucky sprinter clocked 24.52 seconds. In the 60m dash, Clarke was 23rd overall in 7.72.

And at the Meyo Invitational, in Indiana, University of Miami's Breon Mullings finished third in his section and 19th overall in the men's 200m in 22.04 seconds.
