Callender grabs gold at Gibson McCook Relays

Emmanuel Callender continued his fine run of form this season with gold at the Gibson McCook Relays, in Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday. The double Olympic sprint relay medallist stopped the clock at 10.25 seconds for an easy victory in the men's 100 metres dash.

Callender, the only Trinidad and Tobago athlete in the field, beat Jamaicans Ramone Barnswell (10.37) and Tyquendo Tracey (10.40) into second and third, respectively. Another Jamaican, 2010 national champion Oshane Bailey was fourth in 10.46.

Callender seems set to enjoy one of his best seasons. In January, at an indoor meet in New Mexico, USA, the 32-year-old sprinter clocked a personal best 6.65 seconds in the 60m dash. And on February 11, he produced his fastest-ever 400m run, getting home in 46.85 at the Camperdown Classic in Jamaica.

Callender's 10.25 run on Saturday earned him second spot on the 2017 men's 100m world outdoor performance list, behind Australian Josh Clarke (10.22).
