Big throws for Murray, HorsfordTrinidad and Tobago athletes shine at Barbados Dual MeetKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 20.03.2017Talena Murray produced a big throw at the Barbados vs Trinidad and Tobago Dual Meet at the National Stadium in Barbados, on Saturday. The huge 49.49 metres effort was actually an improvement on the 45.77m T&T girls' under-20 javelin record set by Natalie Dixon back in 2002. However, there were concerns over the validity of Murray's mark, and it may not be recognised as a new T&T junior standard. Contacted by the Express for a comment, National Association of Athletics Administrations (NAAA) president Ephraim Serrette said Murray's throw is "still to be ratified". Asha James, winner of the girls' under-20 javelin at the Carifta trials, two weekends ago, had to settle for the runner-up spot on Saturday. She landed the spear 39.85m. At the trials, James won with a 42.96m throw. Akidah Briggs was second with a 39.94m effort, with Murray a distant third at 35.54m.
