McKnight grabs Texas Relays silver

Personal best for half-miler Brooks

Sparkle McKnight seized silver at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Texas, USA, on the weekend. The Trinidad and Tobago athlete finished second in the women's invitational 400 metres hurdles in 57.24 seconds. Americans Ashley Spencer and Melissa Gonzalez earned gold and bronze, respectively, clocking 56.66 and 58.81.

T&T half-miler Alena Brooks clocked a personal best two minutes, 03.58 seconds to finish fourth in the women's 800m. American Chrishuna Williams struck gold in 2:02.25.

&T sprinter Khalifa St Fort warmed up for the defence of her Carifta Games girls' under-20 100m title with an 11.38 seconds run in the women's invitational 100m dash. She finished second in her section and fifth overall.

Michelle-Lee Ahye opened her 2017 campaign with a third-place finish in her women's invitational 200m section in a wind-assisted 23.37 seconds. She was fifth overall. St Fort was 12th fastest in 24.97.

Jackson State University sophomore Latoya Gilding finished 28th in the women's discus with a 43.80 metres effort. Wiley College junior Moriba Morain clocked 10.51 seconds to secure 31st spot overall in the men's 100m. Louisiana State University (LSU) freshman Akanni Hislop was 52nd in 10.62. And Wiley's Kendell Perouza was 68th in the men's 400m hurdles in 59.05.

Emmanuel Stewart finished 10th in the Pepsi Florida Relays men's discus event with a 51.49m throw. University of Alabama senior Domonique Williams got around the track in 53.82 seconds to finish 12th overall in the women's 400m.

In the women's 200m, University of Kentucky junior Kayelle Clarke (23.59) and University of Miami sophomore Trishelle Leacock (24.72) were 11th and 42nd, respectively. Clarke was 16th overall in the 100m dash in 11.52 seconds, while Semoy Hackett was 18th fastest in a wind-aided 11.55.

Coppin State University's Haysean-Cowie Clarke was 40th in the men's 200m in a windy 21.95 seconds and 46th in the 100m in 10.70. And another T&T/Coppin State athlete, Mark London clocked 1:55.48 for 56th spot in the men's 800m.
