Golden Walters betters best

Ruebin Walters captured men's 110 metres hurdles gold at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Alabama, USA, on the weekend. The University of Alabama student got to the line in a personal best 13.52 seconds.

Another Trinidad and Tobago/Alabama athlete, Domonique Williams clocked 24.04 for fifth spot in the women's 200m. University of Missouri sophomore Tsai-Anne Joseph was 12th fastest in the women's 100m in 12.18. And Joseph's Missouri teammate, Jonathan Holder was 25th in the men's 100m in 11.10 and 28th in the 200m in 22.69.

At the West Texas A&M Classic, Zakiya Denoon topped the women's 400m field in 57.93 seconds. Her Monroe College teammate, Dawnel Collymore was 13th in one minute, 00.48 seconds.

Coppin State University's Khemani Roberts won the women's high jump with a 1.70 metres clearance. She clocked a wind-assisted 14.98 seconds for fifth spot in the 100m hurdles. And in the long jump, Roberts was eighth with a 5.17m leap.

Also in Texas, Elia Nero struck gold in the Skechers Performance Carl Kight Invitational women's 800m event. The Louisiana Tech University student completed her two laps of the track in 2:11.37. Wiley College's Danielle David was seventh in 2:21.17.

Dan-Neil Telesford was golden in the men's 200m, getting to the line in 20.80 seconds. Wiley College athletes, Machael Mark (22.10) and Jesse Berkley (22.50) were 14th and 21st, respectively.

Telesford bagged bronze in the 100m dash in a wind-aided 10.35 seconds. Mark was eighth in a windy 10.56, while Berkley was 12th fastest in a windy 10.74. Mark finished seventh in the men's long jump with a 6.69m leap.

Wiley's Terrisa Mark clocked a windy 12.16 seconds for ninth spot overall in the women's 100m. She was 13th in the 200m in a windy 25.66.

Ashton DeMurrell threw 31.33m to finish 14th in the men's javelin. His Wiley teammate, Kendell Perouza was 15th in the men's 400m hurdles in 59.70 seconds. Another Wiley athlete, Darion De La Rosa was 22nd in the men's 400m in 52.81. Perouza was 23rd in 53.12.

Mauricia Prieto was victorious at the Angelo State David Noble Relays, in Texas. The South Plains College sophomore won the women's 100m dash in a wind-assisted 11.44 seconds.

At the Little Rock Open, in Arkansas, Chelsea Charles captured the women's sprint double. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock student topped the 100m field in a wind-aided 11.56 seconds and finished first in the 200m in a windy 23.58. In Mississippi, Coahoma Community College sprinter Ian Thomas clocked 21.83 seconds to earn bronze in the Meridian Community College Relay Invitational men's 200m event.

And two weekends ago, at the Texas Relays, Kareem Roberts equalled the national record in the men's high jump. The Long Island University (LIU) Brooklyn student went over the bar at 2.15m to earn silver, joining Kashef Daniel and Kevin Huggins in the T&T record books in the process.
