Lewis, Gilding golden in US

Aaron Lewis emerged victorious in the men's 110 metres hurdles at the Mason Spring Invitational in Virginia, USA, on the weekend. The Coppin State University freshman stopped the clock at 14.31 seconds.

Coppin State sprinter Haysean Cowie-Clarke finished ninth overall in the men's 100m dash in 10.87. Lewis was 17th in 11.05. In the 200m, Cowie-Clarke was 15th fastest in a wind-aided 21.99, while Morgan State University's Joash Huggins was 52nd in a windy 23.13. And in the men's 1,500m event, Coppin State junior Mark London returned a time of four minutes, 03.59 seconds for 67th spot.

At the McNeese Spring Time Classic, in Louisiana, Latoya Gilding grabbed women's discus gold with a 47.78 metres throw. The Jackson State University student produced a 13.43m effort to bag shot put bronze. Grambling State University's Jeunice Maxime was 14th in the women's 100m in 12.28 seconds and 16th in the 200m in 25.48.

In Kansas, Shania Alexander picked up Everett Kohl Invite women's 100m silver in 11.81 seconds.
