Sprint relay ‘B’ win

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 23.04.2017

Dan-Neil Telesford stormed from behind to hand Trinidad and Tobago victory in the men's 4x100 metres "B" final, at the IAAF World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday night.

Though no medals were on offer, the win proved to more valuable than expected. With just five teams finishing the "A" final, the top three in the "B" race earned automatic qualification for the 2017 IAAF World Championships.

And in addition to securing a men's sprint relay berth for T&T at the Worlds in London, England, Moriba Morain, Emmanuel Callender, Kyle Greaux and anchorman Telesford produced a clocking (39.04) that would have been good enough for silver in the "A" final. Justin Gatlin anchored the USA to gold in 38.43 seconds, with silver going to Barbados (39.18). China clocked 39.22 to take bronze.
