Alexander wins in Virginia

Ayanna Alexander produced a 13.61 metres effort to grab gold in the Virginia Challenge women's triple jump event, in Virginia, USA, last weekend. With that jump, the Trinidad and Tobago athlete moved to 15th on the 2017 world outdoor performance list.

Mark London also competed at the Virginia Challenge, the Coppin State University student finishing seventh in the men's 800m "D" race in one minute, 52.62 seconds.

In Alabama, Ruebin Walters was the class of the War Eagle Invitational men's 110m hurdles field, the University of Alabama student winning in 13.53 seconds. Walters clocked a wind-aided 13.58 in the qualifying round.

In Texas, Aeisha McDavid finished second in the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Invitational women's shot put event with a 13.10 metres throw. She was third in the javelin at 36.06m and fifth in the high jump with a 1.50m clearance.

UTEP's Asa Guevara clocked a personal best 46.81 seconds for bronze in the men's 400m. Jeminise Parris also established a new PR (personal record), the Central Arizona College student clocking 13.47 to finish third in the women's 100m hurdles. And in the 400m hurdles, Parris was third in 1:02.50.
