Quow, Thomas tops at ‘Ole Miss'Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 10.05.2017Renny Quow was the class of the men's 400 metres field at the Ole Miss Classic in Mississippi, USA, on Saturday. The Trinidad and Tobago quartermiler won in 46.38 seconds, completing his lap of the track more than a second faster than his closest rival. There was gold too for Reyare Thomas. The T&T sprinter clocked a wind-assisted 23.31 seconds to triumph in the women's 200m. At the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships in North Carolina, Khemani Roberts struck gold in the women's heptathlon with 5,036 points—a new meet record. The Coppin State University athlete earned high jump silver with a 1.71 metres clearance. And in the javelin, she threw 31.08m to finish 10th. Coppin State sprinter Haysean Cowie-Clarke was sixth in the men's 100m final in a wind-aided 10.52 seconds. He clocked a windy 10.47 in the qualifying round. Another T&T/Coppin State athlete, Mark London was 11th overall in the men's 800m in one minute, 52.69 seconds. At the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championships, in Alabama, Latoya Gilding struck gold in the women's shot put with a 14.96m throw.
