Michelle-Lee Ahye finished fourth in the women's 100 metres dash at the Shanghai IAAF Diamond League meet, in China, yesterday. The Trinidad and Tobago sprinter got to the line in 11.21 seconds.

Double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson was in dominant mood, winning in a world-leading 10.78 seconds. The Jamaican finished well ahead of American Tori Bowie, the runner-up in 11.04. Ivory Coast sprinter Marie-Josee Ta Lou clocked 11.07 to secure third spot.

There was a close four-way battle for fourth, Ahye prevailing in the end with her 11.21 run. Murielle Ahoure of Ivory Coast finished fifth in 11.22, just ahead of Jamaica's triple Olympic gold medallist Veronica Campbell-Brown (11.23) and American Morolake Akinosun (11.24).

Last month, Ahye finished second at the Longhorn Invitational in Texas, USA in a wind-assisted 10.95 seconds and fifth at the Grenada Invitational in a windy 11.26. And at the Texas Relays, the 25-year-old Carenage athlete clocked a wind-aided 23.37 for third spot in the 200m event.
