Kamaria Durant was dominant in the Abilene Track Classic women's 100 metres final at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, on Saturday. The 26-year-old sprinter stopped the clock at 11.72 seconds for a comfortable cushion on her Simplex teammate Shikyla Walcott, the silver medallist in 12 seconds flat.

Another Simplex sprinter, Jalen Purcell won the men's 100m final in 10.51. However, the fastest man on the day was Marcus Duncan, the Rebirth athlete winning his qualifying heat easily in 10.34, but opting out of the championship race.

Reigning Carifta Games champion Adell Colthrust secured the boys' under-18 100m title. The Abilene teen produced a 10.83 seconds run to finish ahead of Point Fortin New Jets sprinter Timothy Frederick (10.88).

There was an impressive double for Jerod Elcock, the Abilene sprinter winning the boys' under-20 100m dash in 10.76 seconds and the under-20 400m in 47.21. In the one-lap race, Elcock edged his clubmate Jacob St Clair into second spot, both athletes being credited with the same clocking.

The men's 400m title went to Darren Alfred. The UTT Fast Track runner clocked 47.40 seconds to finish ahead of Abilene's Judah Taylor (47.74).

Rae-Anne Serville underlined her tremendous potential with a superb run in the girls' under-16 400m. The 15-year-old Memphis Pioneers runner grabbed gold in 55.85 seconds, finishing almost three seconds ahead of Cougars athlete Caliyah Wallace, the runner-up in 58.72.

Serville was actually the fastest female quartermiler on show at the Abilene Track Classic, completing her lap of the track faster than the under-18 and women's winners. Joanna Rogers of Cougars struck gold in the under-18 one-lap in 57.89 seconds, while top spot in the women's race went to Abilene's Renee Stoddard in 57.55.
