Port of Spain crowned Atlantic National Primary School champions

PORT OF SPAIN Zone emerged victorious when the 2017 Atlantic National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships was held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, yesterday.
The Port of Spain athletes amassed 432.5 points to win the crown. Tobago finished second with 392 points, while Caroni rounded off the top three with 340 points.
The crowd, which included 1976 Olympic gold medallist Hasely Crawford, came to life with the start of the relay events.
Port of Spain dominated the relays winning five of the eight races. They won gold in the boys Under-9 4x100-metre relay, boys Under-11 4x100m, boys Under- 13 4x100m, girls 800m sprint medley 13-15 and the boys 800m sprint medley 13-15.
Tobago won the girls Under-9 4x100m, St Patrick snatched the girls Under-11 4x100m and Victoria claimed the girls Under-13 4x100m race. Some of the other events included the 1500m run, 1500m walk, 60m run, 100m run, shot put, long jump, high jump and javelin.
