Walters bags NCAA silverJereem Richards takes bronze in 200mKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 10.06.2017Ruebin Walters and Jereem Richards enjoyed podium finishes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA, on Friday night. Walters seized silver in the men's 110 metres hurdles, the University of Alabama student getting to the line in 13.54 seconds. Running into a 2.0 metres per second headwind, the Trinidad and Tobago sprint hurdler was unable to threaten his 13.39 PR (personal record). But he did challenge University of Florida's Grant Holloway for the gold. The American, however, held off Walters to take the title in 13.49. Richards bagged bronze in the men's 200m, the T&T/Alabama athlete finishing behind American Christian Coleman and Briton Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake. Conditions were even tougher than in the sprint hurdles final, Richards shrugging off a 3.1 metres per second headwind to grab third spot in 20.55 seconds.
