RENNY QUOW won his second race in Canada this season when he crossed the line in 45.81 seconds for top spot in Wednesday's New Balance Speed River Inferno men's 400 metres, in the city of Guelph, southwestern Ontario.

Quow outclassed his rivals, the Trinidad and Tobago quartermiler finishing well ahead of Canadian Philip Osei, the runner-up, in 46.26 and Khari Herbert (46.39) of the British Virgin Islands.

Quow's clocking was his fastest for 2017, bettering the 46.01 run he had produced in Grenada in April. On June 10, Quow was victorious in Halifax, Canada, in 46.37.

Another T&T athlete, Lalonde Gordon got home in 20.84 seconds for silver in the men's 200m. American Dedric Dukes grabbed gold in 20.51, with bronze going to Canadian Segun Makinde (21.22).

At the All Comers Meet in Kingston, Jamaica, last Sunday, T&T's Kern Alexis returned a time of 51.21 seconds to strike gold in the men's 400m hurdles. There was a podium finish too for Emmanuel Callender, the T&T sprinter seizing silver in the men's 200m in 21.16.
