Ahye 5th in London Diamond League

Trinidad and Tobago's Michelle-Lee Ahye finished fifth in the women's 100 metres final at the Muller Anniversary Games IAAF Diamond League meet in London, England, yesterday. Ahye got to the line in 11.06 seconds.

Jamaica's double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson topped the field in 10.94, with second spot going to Dutchwoman Dafne Schippers (10.97). Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare (10.99) was third.

In the qualifying round, Ahye clocked 11.05 seconds for second spot in heat two, behind Schippers (10.96). In heat one, Okagbare (11.04) and Thompson (11.16) were first and second, respectively.

Meanwhile, T&T's Renny Quow clocked 46.19 seconds to finish seventh in the men's 400m. Americans Michael Cherry (45.02) and Tony McQuay (45.29) finished one-two, while Great Britain's Dwayne Cowan (45.36) was third
