St Fort bids for Pan Am repeat

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 20.07.2017

Khalifa St Fort opens the defence of her Pan American Junior Championship women's 100 metres title in Trujullo, Peru, this morning.

St Fort is the fastest junior in the world this year and eighth fastest all-time at 11.06 seconds—the Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 record she established in finishing third at last month's NGC/Sagicor/NAAA National Open Championships. The clocking is also a Central American and Caribbean (CAC) junior record.

St Fort was expected to square off against American Candace Hill for the Pan Am crown. But it was reported this week that Hill will not face the starter in Trujullo, clearing the way for St Fort to repeat her golden performance from two years ago in Edmonton, Canada.
