TIME FOR IMPACTCallender, Bledman ready for London 100Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 03.08.2017Emmanuel Callender is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, while Keston Bledman is enduring one of his worst. But both Trinidad and Tobago sprinters will go into action at the 2017 IAAF World Championships here in London, England, today, confident of making an impact. In June, Callender was crowned national champion in the men's 100 metres event for the very first time, clocking a season's best 10.10 seconds to force Bledman (10.15) into second spot. Callender has also clocked 10.11 this year, and has a good shot at improving on his 10.05 PR (personal record) at the London Worlds. At 9.86 seconds, Bledman is joint-17th on the world all-time list. But the Florida-based sprinter last dived under 10 seconds more than two years ago. Bledman's best run so far this year is 10.08, making the 2017 season his slowest since 2009. "The season isn't really going as I planned," Bledman told the Express, following a training session at the Newham Leisure Centre, "but I have faith. I'm praying and definitely have to trust the formula. I've been training hard, but things haven't come together as I wanted."
