DEJA VU 100 FINALAhye 6th, Baptiste 8th as Bowie lunges to goldKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 07.08.2017There was a case of déjà vu at the London Stadium here in London, England, yesterday, Trinidad and Tobago sprinters Michelle-Lee Ahye and Kelly-Ann Baptiste repeating their historic feat of two years ago, in Beijing, China. Ahye and Baptiste ran side by side in the 2017 IAAF World Championships women's 100 metres final, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively. At the 2015 edition of the global meet, the same athletes were fifth and sixth in the century as T&T celebrated double representation in a World Champs women's final for the very first time. In the 2017 championship race, Ahye got to the line in 11.01 seconds, while Baptiste clocked 11.09. Tori Bowie grabbed gold with a perfectly-timed lean, the American lunging across the line for victory in 10.85. She finished just ahead of Ivory Coast sprinter Marie-Josee Ta Lou, the silver medallist in a personal best 10.86.
