Confident Jereem eases into 200 final

Jereem Richards chases global glory at 4.52 this afternoon (T&T time) at the London Stadium here in London, England. The 23-year-old sprinter will run in lane seven in the 2017 IAAF World Championship men's 200 metres final.

Yesterday, Richards emerged as a ray of sunshine for Trinidad and Tobago on a cold and rainy day, topping the second semi-final heat in 20.14 seconds. He shrugged off the pouring rain and uncomfortable 15-degree Celsius temperature to secure the easiest of wins. Abdul Hakim Sani Brown was a well-beaten second, the Japanese teen clocking 20.43.

The miserable London weather had threatened to put a damper on Richards' bid for a championship race lane. But he turned to a tried and tested remedy…and it worked.

"My nose was sniffling a little bit this morning," Richards told the Express, "but I took two Diana Power Mints, and I'm good.
