Quarter-milers eye ‘Worlds’ medalTrinidad Guardian :: 13.08.2017T&T's men's 4x400 metres relay team promises to produce a blinding performance in the 4x400 metres relay final today and bring the curtain down on the 2017 IAAF World Championship at the Olympic Stadium in London, England. The race will take place at 4.15 pm. Collectively, the team of Renny Quow, Jareem Richards, Machel Cedenio and Lalonde Gordon told Guardian Media Sports: "We will blind them." T&T sent an initial warning in a tough qualifying run with a season's best time of 2:59.35 seconds, the second fastest time behind qualification winners the USA which recorded 2:59.23, for the world leading time this year. Quow, who ran T&T first leg from lane 8, said: "Today, I got up early and I was relaxed and watched some television and my body felt really good, and I just came out here and ran. I will return to the hotel, get some treatment and get ready for the final tomorrow." Bronze medallist in the 200 metres Richards ran the second leg and said: "The momentum is still with me, I felt good out there, and just want to get another medal for Trinidad and Tobago. We have a quality team and we are all here for each other and our country, so come tomorrow it is about getting a medal." Cedenio, the reigning national 400 metres champion who ran the third leg, added: "After we got such a great start from the first two legs, I was just out to make sure that I continued that progress and stayed on the pace and in contention. We are all feeling good and I know that we saved something today and that we all ran intelligent races, so tomorrow, we are going to come here all about running our best and executing our race." Gordon, who ran the critical anchor leg was over joyed. "I'm feeling good. Just did enough to make it to the finals, I am feeling good." |
