Monderoy in Savannah comeback tomorrow

Baboolal, Pereira, Chepwogen hunt one-lap honours

Sextuple national record holder Sheldon Monderoy will be on show in the NGC/National Association of Athletics Administrations (NAAA) "King and Queen of the Savannah" event, at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain, tomorrow.

Monderoy sees action in the one-lap for men. Veteran road runner Curtis Cox and rising stars Collin Pereira and Shirvan Baboolal are expected to be among the contenders for the top prize.

Kenyan Mercy Chepwogen is the favourite in the women's one-lap. Trinidad and Tobago's top female road runner, Tonya Nero, is training abroad, clearing the path for Chepwogen, the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championship 3,000 metres gold medallist. In Nero's absence, Samantha Shukla leads the charge for T&T.
