Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 29.10.2017

Tonya Nero put an exclamation mark on her status as the First Lady of Caribbean road running with a dominant showing in yesterday's First Citizens UWI SPEC International Half-Marathon.

Unchallenged in the women's race, Nero took on the clock and 700-plus men. The Trinidad and Tobago runner was equal to the task, returning a time of one hour, 16 minutes and 32 seconds to win her third UWI Half-Marathon women's title. Nero took home the US$2,500 top prize, and enjoyed the added satisfaction of finishing 10th overall.
