Deonanan, Reis win ModSec 5k

Trinidad Guardian :: 11.02.2018

Past student Kris Deonanan clocked 16 minutes 23 seconds to beat a field of some 500 entrants in the San Fernando Central Secondary School (better known as ModSec) 5K on Thursday.

The race started at the Skinner Park second ground and finished at the school's compound on Todd Street after a loop of the city.

In second place was Clynton Mann (17:44). Kyle Assivero (17:53), third overall, was the first ModSec student and he was followed home by two other ModSec students Okemba Coutain (17:55) and Andre Hope (18:45).

The first overall female was ModSec student Sierra Reis (20:34) who finished ahead of her fellow students Djenaba Joseph (24:32) and Caleb Stewart (24:50).

Veteran marathoner Curtis Cox lends his support to the race every year. This is the 35th running of the ModSec road race which dates back to 1984 and the proud tradition continued this year with generous donations from past students living here and abroad.
