James hangs up spikesConsistent halfmiler done with running after 17 yearsKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 21.02.2018Jamaal James has called time on his athletics career. The Trinidad and Tobago half-miler announced his retirement from the sport in a Facebook post this week. He described his career as one of "many highs and a few lows". James, who graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) with a communication studies degree, finished fifth in the 2005 IAAF World Youth Championship boys' 800 metres final. "I was the lone athlete from the Western Hemisphere to make the final. I was able to secure this achievement whilst sitting my CXC/GCSE exams at Trinity College, Moka, and attained all eight subjects."
