Putting country first
Fazeer Mohammed :: Trinidad Express :: 15.04.2018Basking in the golden glow of the triumphs of Michelle-Lee Ahye and Jereem Richards on the track or savouring the silver lining provided by Dylan Carter in the pool at the Commonwealth Games doesn't mean ignoring the issue which appears to have divided public opinion before, during and now immediately after the conclusion of the multi-sport meet on Australia's Gold Coast.
Was Ahye wrong to opt out of the women's sprint relay even if it was, as she claimed, to be a matter determined by her personal coach? Yes. Was Ato Boldon out of line in making what appeared to be disparaging comments on social media about other female Trinidad and Tobago sprinters in advocating the case of his charge, Khalifa St Fort? Yes.
