GREAT SATISFACTIONKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 16.04.2018Trinidad and Tobago's showing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games here in Gold Coast, Australia gave chef de mission Diane Henderson a "great sense of satisfaction". Team TTO ended the Games with two gold medals and one silver to earn 18th spot on the medal table. Only two T&T teams have produced better performances. In 1966, the country earned five gold medals, two silver and two bronze. And T&T ended the 1954 Games with two gold medals and two silver. Dylan Carter opened the 2018 account with silver in the men's 50 metres butterfly, becoming the first T&T swimmer in history to secure precious metal at the Commonwealth Games. Michelle-Lee Ahye followed up with her own chapter of history, gold in the women's 100 metres dash making her the country's first female champion at the multi-sport Games for countries belonging to the former British Empire. The second gold medal was earned by Jereem "The Dream" Richards in the men's 200m. Become a subscriber to the Trinidad Express Newspapers for access to all our articles via our e-paper. |
