Greaux betters 200 best

Kyle Greaux clocked a personal best 20.08 seconds to strike gold in the men's 200 metres event at the NTC Pure Athletics Sprint Elite Meet in Florida, USA, on Saturday.

With the fast run, Greaux moved into ninth spot on the 2018 world performance list. Another Trinidad and Tobago sprinter, Jereem "The Dream" Richards is fourth at 19.99 seconds. South African Clarence Munyai is the world-leader with a 19.69 run.

T&T's Janeil Bellille secured second spot in the women's 400m hurdles in 57.06 seconds. Mauricia Prieto finished first in section three and fourth overall in the women's 200m in 23.27. Reyare Thomas was second in the same section in 23.30 and fifth overall.

Greaux topped heat four in the men's 100m heats in 10.32 seconds, while Keston Bledman was second in heat one in 10.42. Both sprinters, however, opted out of the final.

Thomas won heat three in the women's 100m in 11.45 seconds, but did not face the starter in the final. She was fourth fastest in the heats. Prieto was 17th overall in 11.88. And Jovon Toppin clocked 49.92 for 14th spot in the men's 400m.

T&T sprinters Michelle-Lee Ahye and Khalifa St Fort finished second and third, respectively, in the women's 100m dash at Saturday's Guadeloupe International Meeting. Ahye clocked 11.35 seconds, while St Fort got to the line in 11.44. American Allyson Felix grabbed gold in 11.30.

T&T halfmiler Alena Brooks returned a time of two minutes, 03.68 seconds for fourth spot in the women's 800m. Burundi's Francine Niyonsaba won in 2:01.97.

At the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Outdoor Championships, in Tennessee, USA, on Saturday, University of Alabama junior Portious Warren threw a personal best 17.35 metres to seize silver in the women's shot put. On Sunday, Warren produced a 52.35m effort for fourth spot in the discus.

Women's heptathlon champion Tyra Gittens cleared the bar at 1.80m to bag bronze in the high jump event. The Texas A&M University student finished fifth in the long jump with a 6.47m leap.

University of Kentucky's Kayelle Clarke was 11th overall in the women's 200m heats in 23.08 seconds, and did not advance to the final. Louisiana State University (LSU) sprinter Zakiya Denoon was 14th fastest in a wind-assisted 23.19. And University of Missouri's Tsai-Anne Joseph clocked 24.98 for 31st spot overall.

LSU's Akanni Hislop got to the line in a windy 20.92 seconds for 14th spot in the men's 200m. Hislop was 15th fastest in the 100m dash in 10.41.

In the women's 100m, Denoon (11.39) and Joseph (12.18) were 16th and 34th, respectively.

At the Sun Belt Conference Championships, in Texas, Shaquille Singuineau finished fifth in the men's shot put. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette student threw the iron ball 16.79m.
