Wright leaps to gold in BermudaKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 18.05.2018Andwuelle Wright disturbed the sand at 7.74 metres to strike gold in the men's long jump at the Bermuda Invitational Permit Meet in Hamilton, Bermuda, last Friday. The Trinidad and Tobago jumper nosed out Great Britain's Dan Bramble, the silver medallist at 7.73m. Bermuda's Tyrone Smith (7.56m) bagged bronze. T&T sprinter Semoy Hackett picked up silver in the women's 100 metres and 200m events. In the century, Hackett clocked 11.50 seconds to finish between Americans Javianne Oliver (11.36) and Candyce McGrone (11.58). In the longer sprint, Hackett clocked 23.50 to secure second spot, behind American Jessica Beard (23.37). McGrone (23.64) was third. T&T's Lalonde Gordon finished fifth in the men's 200m in 21.43 seconds. Dominican Republic's Yancarlos Martinez triumphed with a 20.89 run. At the Mount Olive Final Qualifier, in North Carolina, USA, on Sunday, Marissa Gale finished first in her section and second overall in the women's 200m in 23.89 seconds. T&T's 2013 400m hurdles world champion completed his lap of the track in 48.35 seconds. At the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, in Ohio, University of Central Florida (UCF) freshman Sarah Wollaston was sixth in heat two and 18th overall in the women's 100m preliminaries. The top eight progressed to the final. And in Jamaica, Jonathan Farinha finished seventh in the JAAA All Comers Meet #2 men's 100m dash. The T&T sprinter got to the line in 10.75 seconds. |
