Lendore set for Hampton GamesTrinidad Guardian :: 26.05.2018T&T's Olympic and World Championships 4x400m medallist Deon Lendore will be the main attraction at this weekend's Hampton International Games at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. The 2016/2018 World Indoor 400m bronze medallist established new personal best in the 200 metres of 20.59 last weekend at the Whitsuntide Games in Grenada. The Abilene Wildcats sprinter will be looking to continue his personal best trend and go even quicker in the half-lap event. The Queen's Royal College graduate with a personal best of 44.36 seconds, will no doubt be looking to get close to his best in the one-lap event. Games chairman Noel Hyland says the Games committee is honoured to have Lendore compete. "As he is a World Indoor and World and Olympic medals I think it is an honour for Deon for him to be running. Looking at his performance in Grenada (recently) it shows that he is coming to his perfection. I think this is why he is looking for the meets so that he is able to keep going until it is time to peak." Two-time Olympic 4x100m medallist Keston Bledman is expected to compete but according to Hyland discussion are still be held to confirm Bledman's participation. Athletes from over 50 local track and field clubs have registered to compete in the two-day meet that starts today. In addition, regional competitors from following clubs Pacers, Rising Stars and Track and Field Academy (Barbados), Choiseul and Rockets (St Lucia) and Av Profosoe (Suriname). |
