T&T closer to 4x1 upgrade after Carter appeal dismissed

The stage is set for Trinidad and Tobago sprinters Keston Bledman, Marc Burns, Emmanuel Callender, Richard "Torpedo" Thompson and Aaron Armstrong to be awarded the men's 4x100 metres gold medals from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Nesta Carter has lost his appeal against the International Olympic Committee Disciplinary Panel (IOC DP) decision to disqualify him and his Jamaica sprint relay teammates on account of Carter's anti-doping rule violation. In a press release, yesterday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced that an arbitration panel "dismissed the appeal and the decision issued on 25 January 2017 by the IOC DP is confirmed."

In the Beijing 2008 4x100m final, Jamaica won in 37.10 seconds. The T&T combination of Bledman, Burns, Callender and Thompson clocked 38.06 to pick up silver. Armstrong ran in the qualifying round, but was replaced by Callender for the championship race. Japan finished third in the final, with fourth spot going to Brazil.
