25 schools go for glory at Laventille-Morvant Games

The Ministry of Education Laventille-Morvant School Improvement Project will celebrate the Laventille -Morvant Schools in Sport and Education with the inaugural Laventille-Morvant Games at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo today beginning at 9 am.

Twenty-five (25) Secondary and Primary Schools will participate in the Games which will pit the best athletes of the Laventille and Morvant communities together in friendly rivalry while pushing each other to excellence, on a day of exciting Track and Field events.

The day's programme includes 95 events and will begin with a Walk Past of the 25 schools' flagbearers before the Games is officials opened by the Minister of Education Anthony Garcia.

Expected to be in attendance is Prime Minister Keith Rowley, the pioneer of the Laventille-Morvant initiative.

Five persons from the Laventille-Morvant Communities will be honoured for their contribution to the area and the development of the area including Adrian Leonce, Fitzgerald Hinds, Ephraim Serrette, Cheryl Ann Wilkinson and Thora Best.

All Principals, teachers, parents and well-wishers are invited to view the event.
